Dubai's StreamPort Media uses Front Porch for Migration
Front Porch Digital, the global leader for solutions that migrate, manage, and market media content, today announced that Dubai-based StreamPort Media has instituted Front Porch Digital SAMMA® technology to support digital migration services for Middle East media enterprises with substantial video archives. Already, the new partnership is enabling StreamPort Media to undertake a high-volume migration project for Gulf Media Company, GMC, in Kuwait.
“Relying on Front Porch Digital’s state-of-the-art technology, we can dramatically expand the services we offer customers and even gain a competitive edge,” said Reza Mehdizadeh, StreamPort Media managing director. “Media operations around the world are recognizing the necessity of digitizing content so it can be preserved and accessed, and our relationship with Front Porch Digital positions us cost-effectively to serve that growing market.”
StreamPort Media’s content migration infrastructure relies on three Front Porch Digital devices: SAMMA Clean, which cleans and inspects master tapes quickly and then reports their condition as metadata; SAMMA Solo, a single-channel, semi-automated system for converting content on videotape to digital files; and SAMMA Robot, a fully automated, multichannel migration system that can run continuously unattended, producing multiple digital file recordings in real time from as many as seven videotape recorders.
In its project for Gulf Media, StreamPort Media will deploy Front Porch Digital SAMMA technology to preserve irreplaceable video content by efficiently migrating it from fragile magnetic tape to secure, easily managed, and readily accessible digital storage.
“StreamPort Media has an outstanding reputation for providing quality products and services to its customers,” said Rino Petricola, senior vice president and managing director of Front Porch Digital International. “With its great track record as both reseller and service bureau, StreamPort Media has a unique capability to support us in bringing our technology benefits to media enterprises throughout the Middle East.”
