Streambox, Inc. announced a new software update allowing users to share live video to Facebook and Twitter using the StreamboxME Pro app on Apple iPhone and iPad. The StreamboxME Pro app now allows users to post a link to 30-second videos on Facebook and Twitter. The ability to share video with fans, followers and friends is as simple as clicking “Share Video” and selecting Facebook, Twitter, or Email. The StreamboxME Pro app is now available for download from the Apple store.

There are two different ways to share video: directly from an iPhone or by sharing video from any Streambox encoder using the Streambox Live Service. Users have no additional steps to compress or upload the video. Initiating a shared stream is an easy process; by selecting the “share” button on the StreamboxME Pro capture interface and then selecting between Facebook, Twitter, Email, or multiple combinations.

On the receiving end the video is accessed by a link on Facebook, Twitter, or in an email. The video can be played on desktop systems with the free Streambox Media Player (available for download from the Streambox website). Low latency around 2 seconds end-to-end is achieved depending on network conditions. The StreamboxME Pro app provides up to 2Mbps bonded cellular and Wi-Fi bandwidth, at resolutions of 720×400 and 16:9. All video is archived and the shared stream can be accessed in real time or as a time-shift feed. The social media sharing feature will be coming soon to Android, OSX, and Windows versions of the StreamboxME Pro app.
